| How can a cemetery diversify? | |
![]() | Marketing a cemetery may well seem slightly odd, but cemeteries all over the UK need to reach the community in more ways than providing burials. Space is filling up, but revenue is still needed for present and future survival of these sites. Kickstart worked with independent charity, York Cemetery Trust, a wonderful Victorian site. The Trust had already realised they needed to promote various aspects of the site, including its role as a community resource. Kickstart reasearched not only the burial market in York, but also the green, ecological and venue hire opportunities. A marketing plan was written bringing together all the ideas, culminating in a set of three bright and attractive leaflets, designed by Bivouac, offering the public three uses of the site: |
The cemetery is now rolling out the leaflets to appropriate locations in and around York, and is already feeling more confident about its image and its ability to attract visitors.

Rebecca helped me gain clarity to get things across in an exciting and engaging way. I would highly recommend Rebecca at Kickstart; a new pair of eyes can work wonders in getting your message across in a fresh and exciting way."
